Just in time

By the skin of my teeth I've managed to write a post in January. If you don't mind I'd like to show you my latest 5 inch squares. Be patient, there are 7 ...... which must mean it's 7 weeks since I was last here. I'm really enjoying the discipline of a weekly piece.

 Hellebore
 Peacock Feather
 Leaf
 Flamingo Feathers
 New Moon
 Full Moon
 Patches

A couple of extras that match the moons - well, the fabric was still out, a little machine stitch,  a little hand stitch & there's less to tidy away ;) I will stitch that loop on soon, & a button.

 earrings & a wrist cuff

useful little patches & a sample for the sketchbook (I'm still working on samples for the other pieces, just in case I never see them  again, you understand)

why do we do this to ourselves? I can't even watch TV while I do this as winding & untangling takes more concentration than any of the actual work I do!

We were asked by Workshop on the Web members fb page to show our workplaces, so intriguing to have a peep into others places.

I was delighted to be asked to join the Raasay Hanging Group in helping the Raasay community to create an enormous hanging for their village hall, about 5 foot x 10 foot. I took along my squares to give an idea that everybody who wanted to could contribute a piece. That we could print pieces, collect & draw all sorts, make little 3d found object replicas to dangle & stitch & knit as there is a rich & varied environment over there. It'll be great fun bringing it all together.

couldn't resist this tree at the ferry terminal even tho it was sleeting in my ear!

my mode of transport, sunshine in the background!

 a light dusting on Raasay

OK I know, 3 views of Skye from Raasay is a bit much, but what a change aver about 4 hours!

Last but not least, my friend Rusty by the Hall door.

What a thoroughly enjoyable post Emma! I love your small works and the cuff set. And how wonderful to be working in a group piece on Raasay. Skye looks magical in all the different light. Lucky girl :-)

I really enjoyed reading your post Emma. What lovely little squares and what a good discipline to challenge yourself to do one a week! I love your bracelet and earrings too. Love the photos too - you live in a beautiful place. Looking forward to hearing (and seeing) more about the group piece on Raasay.

Glad you checked in, I miss seeing you more often. The black and white moon pieces are wonderful as is the cuff set. I like the graphic os the black and white. Lovely views of Skye, who would get tired of that changing view. Studio chock full of goodies, just the way we like them. Congrats on being part of the group and the wall hanging, I can't wait for you to share the progress. Love works like that. xox

Love all of these! A really inspiring post - thank you! I think a weekly stitching deadline is a great idea, and I might just steal it if I may?! Love the pics of the scenery too, also very inspirational xx

What a treat with my afternoon cuppa! Loving the squares as they appear each week, you're building a wonderful collection. Great idea to make jewellery at the same time. Look forward to hearing more on the Raasay project, the views are fab - never made the crossing as never had long enough on Skye (yet!)

Wonderful post to read while I am hiding in the air conditioning for 20 minutes to try to cool down - a bit of a contrast to you. Lovely pictures of Skye, there can never be too many.
Your stitching pieces are lovely, I think the peacock one is my favourite too. The Raasay project sounds fascinating, you must be thrilled to be taking part - more great posts coming up I am sure. Cheers

You prompted me to catch up on a few blogs Emma and you are right in that they are much more chatty than FB. However sometimes I wish I could just click a 'like' button to indicate I'd read the blog as a very brief comment can seem a bit perfunctory. Sometimes the comment I want to make its " read your blog, enjoyed it", but that does seem a bit blunt. In saying this, I enjoyed catching up with you and love your squares. I always love looking at your photos of Skye too. Glad you managed to squeeze a post in. See you next time. Jill
