Mad dogs & Englishwomen stitching in the midday sun

Finally an opportunity to do a little stitching outside in the sun, a lovely breeze keeping the midges away. Only 7 pics this post, I'm giving you a rest after last time ;)

This mug was given to me as a present by my Youngest a couple of years ago, he has no idea how touched I was!

I made up some 'patches' to work on with a bit of tv of an evening, just stitching along, no pattern.

The idea is to one day put them all together as part of a big piece. Not sure how big, but I've a way to go & my exhibition is in 6 weeks! The feather above is from an owl - I was given a bag full from some naturalists down the road here who found it already dead & thought of me ;)

 All together; a suggestion

I made a piece to shape into a heart. I've been working with so much color lately it seems I needed a change!

While sitting outside today I was admiring my Wisteria. A tricky plant to get for a windy place but it was for my 50th & it's only taken nearly 4 years but I had at least 3 racemes this year for the first time!

& all those delicious tendrils to tie in to the top of the pergola at the back of the house, too. Here's to more stitching al dente ;)

Strange not to see a lot of colour. I think I prefer the pieces on their own, just me thinking out aloud. Wisteria is beautiful.

I love those patches, Emma! I think they're some of your very best work! Your wisteria rocks, too. xo

I agree, I think they are your best thing. How would they look mounted onto thick watercolour paper? Love the heart, too.

It's lovely what you do. I love this collage and the heart. It really is in my style, I like that too. I look forward to seeing how it looks in the end. I think it will be great, especially as you have a beautiful garden that inspires you to do things so beautiful.

Beautifully different - the more subdued colour puts the emphasis on the texture.

I love your mug - and you've got more sunshine than down here in the south west. Loving the pieces, should look very impressive once finally together. My youngest son leaves for New Zealand this week :-(

Cute pieces you're stitching and right up my alley colour-wise. I'm back to all soft off-whites to beiges for a special project and your heart would be fit perfectly.
Great mug! Ah, wisteria........I've always loved the romance of wisteria, but have lived too far north.........

I love this subdued colour palette and the pieces that you have created. Well done with the wisteria and at leaf you'll have the whippy bits contained ready to prune them once it's stooped flowering.

Very nice pieces Emma....I'm learning to love neutrals too and I like how the feather blends in so well.
Well we have rain AGAIN in the Midlands today, but here's to lots of stitching 'al dente' in the next few months, lol!

I love your TV stitchings together or on their own. Thoroughly enjoyed all the wedding photos too. You look gorgeous!

I like your stitchery pieces, in fact have been doing similar work myself. I have a hard time not adding color, trying to keep it neutral. Yours are more successful in that regard. Wisteria sometimes have a hard time getting established but once it is, it is hard to slow it down!

Emma - I love Iz's idea of mounting them on water colour paper.

I love your new pieces, they are beautiful! Wisteria is so beautiful too, well done for getting it to flower. We had one but it got too vigorous for our small garden. I love to see them dripping with flowers. Enjoy your stitching xx
