So.... an amazing setting, wonderful mix of Art & Craft & plants & coffee. I know I have enough confidence to say my work looked good. But none of these are good enough if you are in the wrong demographic. They come for the 'family day' activities, fair enough. But if I'm here, in the right setting, the right mix & the right demographic & I don't sell well, then that means I'm in the wrong place & that's depressing, that's what i meant about the coffee being the best thing about that w/e craft fair. We can be eternally optimistic but it won't put food on the table. Someone suggested reinventing myself. I told them I already had. Sigh. I won't end on a negative note (honest) the exhibition seems to have mostly got the right demographic & I have been SO FOCUSSED that i haven't managed to get here before now & I'm sorry not to have got back to you all yet, i will. Hopefully with some pics of the show at the w/e. Thanks for waiting ;)
Terns just outside our house as the tide was coming in, never seen them this close inland

You have been busy! Hopefully you have a market for your lovely work!
Beautiful peacocks!
Hi Emma, I know how disappointing it is. Last November I was a participant in a group art show for a weekend and sold one little painting. I covered my entrance fee but not much else. Sigh. Now I'm leery of group shows and will only participate in smaller shows or my own open studio/gallery shows.
Your coffee looks pretty and cheesecake sounds divine.
Happy days to you.
What a beautiful place and your booth looks great. Sorry it was not what you hoped...I will see how it goes at my Vintage Bazaar next weekend, will let you know how it all goes.....xox
Such a beautiful setting and the booths look wonderful. What's wrong with those folks? Don't give up!
Yes your booth looks lovely .... your creations delightful. I am so glad you know it is not about your creations... wrong place and time. I have been there and done that, it is difficult. Continue on creating from your heart, it is beautiful.
Hello - I know that selling is a black art. I mean by that that there is an art to putting your work in the right place at the right time. How did other stall holders do? Do you have any feedback from them?
I think most people going to event like this will be impulse purchasing, so if your work isn't likely to be an impulse purchase, then possibly you're not in the right place.
Tricky I know, but your work looks lovely and the display beautiful.

Sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the outcome. Was it a general lack of buyers because your stand looks fantastic? Sometimes the most promising venues don't deliver and vice versa. My cousin's daughter who sells silk flower arrangements found that the game fairs were her most successful shows - very unexpected.
Your stand did look lovely, so don't lose heart! Maybe you'd sell more online, use fairs to hand out cards so people buy when they get home?
It's so disappointing and so difficult not to feel demoralised in this situation when you feel there's nothing more you could have done. I just think everyone is chasing a smaller and smaller pot of available money at the moment. But your stuff is still lovely. :o)
Glad you had a good time but sorry you didn't have more success in sales. Your booth looks great, I'd have bought from you. All that work, it is disappointing not to have more sales as that is why you were there. Nice words and smiles are good too, I'm sure you got plenty of those but they don't pay the bills. Live and learn. I'm sure next show you pick will be better.
Emma, such a shame the show didn't turn out well for you: all that time and effort. Looks a lovely spot. Hope the next show is a sell-out!
Your stall looked wonderful and I'm sorry it was disappointing for sales. Disheartening but hopefully next time.......
What a wonderful place you have a your table with your beautiful art works, sadly not all people appreciate handmade things, wish you a lovely weekend.

Going by your lovely pics this looks like a great celebration of some traditional crafts. Don't be despondent re sales - it is surely less to do with you than the general economy and people's appreciation of the handmade. It takes a goodly while to find the appropriate outlet for your work. I think too that many people expect a "bargain" at these events - by that what I really mean is a cheap imported whatnot ... Persist Emma and above all have FUN! X
