A Birthday present postcard

Crissi at random-ramblings-of-a-crafter sent me an alternative postcard, from Essex, UK. It's quite remarkable, a mixed media piece where she's put down a richly colored medium of some sort & pressed stamps & drawn into it revealing exciting layers hiding underneath, all on a canvas wrapped frame. More flowers & more love, wonderful!

I am enraptured, thank you!

It's been a mixture today of bright sunshine & a Haar rolling in. Earlier it was just whispy bits round the middle of the hills, now it's a complete whiteout! So here is some more blue & purple from the garden.

Aqualegia, allium in amongst rosa glauca, geranium pheum, honesty, siberian kale (they are coming out tomorrow!) & geranium. I know I'm showing off - note there are no sign of weeds, isn't that cropping tool marvelous!

Half Way, my 25th postcard

This morning I opened my 25th postcard wich was from Rini at Catherina's Love in Best, the Netherlands. It is absolutely lovely, with hand painted papers, found papers, a mallard ( a little different to the British ones?) & a Jay feather, all stitched together.

I am so delighted, thank you!

I also got my very first Inchies! Thank you so much! I've heard a LOT about them but had never seen them - I thought they were charms & then I had the idea to measure them - as you do - & voila, one inch! The tiny detail is amazing. I once considered an inchie punch but they were fiendishly expensive. One day.

I thought it was about time I took a pic of them all together, as requested & half way is a good point in time. They look absolutely fantastic & is an indication how it will all look at the end! Wow.

My 24th postcard

I'm almost half way! My 24th postcard was from Sue from Divajools, South Australia.

It's fantastic, lace printing, stickers, dyed doilies stitched butons & text - I am so touched by what Sue said in her letter about me being a gatherer.

I am truly delighted, thank you.

postcards Nos 22 and 23

Today I also opened 2 cards, so exciting!

The first one is from Angeline in the Netherlands. Blogger wouldn't let me put her on my side bar so it's lucky I've learnt this link thing! I must ask her whether she can install (or whatever) a translator button as I'm not good with Dutch, but the pictures are lovely!

This card is beautiful! So visually textural, wax crayons I think on wonderful paper with other painted papers & found paper added, lots of bright colors, I love it!

I am soaring, thank you!

Angeline made the envelope out of a gardening magazine page - I must  sew some Chard!

The next postcard was from Julie at A Little Bit of Cornish mist down in Penzance.

This card is wonderful, a very welcome sight! Lots of layers of painted & found papers with a tag & stamped fabric at the bottom & some tiny shells.

I feel soothed, thank you.

Postcard Numbers 20 and 21

I opened 2 postcards today. Well, I didn't open Kim's from Numinosity Beads as it was in the pile 'naked' all the way from Alaska. It got a bit stuck to somehing so I picked a bit of it off & the post office I think had stuck a strip of paper across the bottom - I had to work out whether it was Kim's creativity or not, but I took a chance & carefully peeled it back revealing faint red bar codes, interesting - you can see it's travelled!

The card is facinating, a pretty butterfly matched against a little bit of antiquity, a diagram of a pelvis...I think, both of similar shapes, very intriguing. I love it!

The next one was from Jean at Genies Art World all the way from Devon, from one end of the country to the other. This card is so deeply moody, watery,I feel I could just get into it! It's printed from an origonal photo,beautiful blues & purples with gorgeous turquoise shell beads stitched on in between linear stitches. Lovely!

I also got two presents, you shouldn't have! A sunshiny brooch & my very first atc, a guardian angel. Thank you so much  ;)

Postcards Nos 18 & 19

I am so lucky as today I opened 2 postcards! I had 10 lined up ready & as my big day is in a week & a 1/2 I thought I ought! The first is from Sue McB in Victoria, Australia, at Paddy's Daughter

It is beautifully precise, I could never achieve something so wonderfully neat! Lovely straight lines with  both machine & hand stitching - just wonderful.

Looking at this pretty flower I feel so hopeful, thank you.

The next card is from Jill at Third Age Musings in Bedfordshire, UK. It is oh so delicate! Ribbons & lace & lots of tiny hand stitches.There's a little pocket with a Happy Birthday to me in it. On the back Jill says it was inspired by WW1 embroidered postcards sent home by troops in France, what a lovely idea, & it's quite poignant to read about on google.

This card gives me a feeling of serenity, just as the people who fought for our country's peace do. Thank you for this.

Isn't it amazing that these 2 cards from thousands of miles apart, have perfectly matched colors?

Another amazing thing - I have reached 50 people who have agreed to swap a postcard with me. I'm still waiting for a couple of addresses, but I am incredibly touched. Thank you.

My 17th card

I opened a card all the way from Norway today, from Ati Han-Sas . It is so pretty, quite soft & harmonious. Delicate lace & fine tissue or napkin over text with wonderful rose colored stitches.

I feel gentle. Thank you so much!

I'm late today, my day got away from me a bit. But I did manage yoga & now I'm very very hungry! but, beforeIi eat did you notice the link? I know it's obvious to many but that's my first one, thanks to Studio Sylvia! Thank you :)
